A marketing term used by Samsung to describe their OLED panels. Also called "Ambient Display" or "Active Display," depending on the OEM. This feature, commonly referred to as "AOD," typically requires an OLED display since the black background doesn't use power and only the white lettering will consume battery on these types of screens.
